A mere 3mm gap around a window frame can leak as much heat as leaving the window open an inch all day. In construction, these invisible openings silently disrupt energy efficiency efforts. But with the leaders of sealing technology—ISO-Chemie—in the picture, it’s not just the gaps that get plugged; a new wave of sustainability is ushered in, transforming inefficiencies into opportunities for environmental benefit.

For over 45 years, the company has been a frontrunner in the European market, developing, producing and distributing energy-efficient and sustainable building sealing solutions. Its products not only save energy, but are sustainably produced, which positions it as a key player in the evolving landscape of building regulations and energy standards.

This innovation couldn’t be timelier. The revised Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) is part of the European Union’s ‘Fit for 55’ package, which aims for a zero-emission building stock by 2050. It’s an unprecedented challenge for the construction industry. ISO-Chemie’s solutions are designed to meet these goals, including minimum energy performance standards crucial for reaching the first initiative; reducing greenhouse gas emissions by at least 55 percent by 2030.

Many clients have used ISO-Chemie for decades and continue using it for its eco-friendly products and ability to address common installation challenges. Customers consistently seek versatile, easy-to-use solutions. ISO-Chemie’s research and development team prioritises superior physical properties to ensure its solutions meet diverse needs, making them efficient and reliable.

Sealing Excellence with Smart Innovation

The company’s innovation shines through in its diverse product range, designed for applications from window and wall installations to industrial and commercial construction, as well as metal facade and timber house construction. Each product is crafted with a focus on convenience, versatility and eco-friendliness.

To bring these innovative products to market, ISO-Chemie blends the latest manufacturing techniques with visionary thinking and decades of sealing technology expertise. The development team works tirelessly to stay ahead of industry demands, a commitment reflected in the numerous patents the company holds.

“We are very pleased to have introduced nearly 70 patent families with numerous individual applications,” says Dr. Martin J. Deiß, managing director and CEO of ISO-Chemie.

It’s a powerful testament that highlights the company’s impressive capacity for innovation.

A notable instance is the ISO-BLOCO ONE multi-functional tape. This patented product has completely transformed window installation by creating an energy-saving seal that combines weatherproofing, thermal and acoustic insulation and airtightness. Since its launch, over 100 million linear meters have been sold, providing significant energy savings in close to 20 million window units.

Building on this success, it has introduced ISO-BLOCO HYBRATEC, a new generation of sealing tapes with an integrated foil air barrier. This product merges the impermeability to air and driving rain of window connection foils with the expansion force and long-term movement absorption of pre-compressed PUR flexible foam.

Its hybrid technology led to the ‘SME Innovation Award 2021/22’ by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Verbraucherstudien mbH (DtGV), bringing it into the exclusive circle of Germany’s best products.

Efficient Delivery Excellence

Product quality, availability, short delivery times and professional technical support define ISO-Chemie’s well-rounded services. Prompt product delivery to construction sites is ensured through a well-coordinated logistic services, particularly in key areas.

Before dispatching products, its skilled team provides comprehensive advice to guarantee they perfectly match in form and function for effective building sealing.

To help customers maximise the use of the energy-efficient and sustainable sealing solutions, the company offers both practical and theoretical courses at its state-of-the-art training facility. Digital lessons via video chat are provided for those who are physically reachable.

Blue is the New Green

How do you measure ISO-Chemie’s success today? You might frequently hear people in the industry say, “Use the blue technology,”—referring to ISO-Chemie’s tagline. This isn’t just a catchy slogan; it’s a nod to the company’s environmental friendliness at every step. Certified for ISO 14001 and ISO 9001, it is continually improving the ecological impact of its products while expanding its sustainable practices.

Many clients have used ISO-Chemie for decades and continue using it for its eco-friendly products and ability to address common installation challenges

“We only work with chlorofluorocarbon-free and climate-neutral foams that conform to the latest environmental regulations,” Dr. Martin J. Deiß explains, elaborating on the eco-conscious approach.

This commitment to sustainability is also demonstrated by the numerous certifications and recognitions it has earned. Most of ISO-Chemie’s sealing products carry the GEV mark EMICODE® EC1PLUS, indicating very low emission. Many joint sealing components and systems are certified by Gütegemeinschaft Gebäudeabdichtungssysteme e.V. for their energy efficiency.

Its in-front-of-wall installation systems, ISO-TOP WINFRAMER “TYPE 1” and “TYPE 3”, along with the sealing tapes ISO-BLOCO HYBRATEC and ISO-BLOCO ONE, have also been recognised by the Passive House Institute (PHI) for their exceptional performance. This certification underscores ISO-Chemie’s commitment to developing products that contribute to highly insulated building envelopes—a key factor in reducing energy consumption and promoting sustainable construction practices.

Global Reach, Local Impact

From its origins as a national company catering to the German market, ISO-Chemie has come a long way to become a global technology leader with centres across Europe. The company has established sales offices and logistics centres in countries such as France, England and Spain and collaborates with partner companies to distribute its products in international markets.

Despite its global reach, ISO-Chemie maintains a strong commitment to local communities. The company supports multiple initiatives, including a Wilhelma-led project that donates profits from recycling mobile phones to Berggorilla & Regenwald Direkthilfe e.V. for the conservation of western lowland gorillas.

Supporting the environment in all possible ways, ISO-Chemie adopts a forward-thinking approach to building sealing, prioritising environmental support for future generations. By digitalising processes, it assists architects, designers, installers and retailers in ensuring reliable planning and seamless installation. This closes the gap between design and actual performance for building junctions and systems, enabling builders to not just seal buildings—but secure a sustainable, efficient future for construction.
