As a technology executive, I am responsible for providing insight and briefings to dozens of people, including my staff, county executives, elected officials, and the public. I have done this a hundred times. I frequently suffer from writer’s block. I procrastinate and yet pull some of my best work together with minutes to spare. ChatGPT is exactly what I needed, and I am not ashamed to say that I now use it every day.

I’ve gotten feedback that my writing is sharper and more well-rounded, organized, and crisp. Waste has been reduced. I feel even prouder about my work. As I was telling this story at dinner recently, I could tell my mother-in-law wasn’t getting it. So, I asked ChatGPT to prepare a 400-word article explaining how ChatGPT works to my mother-in-law. Forty-two seconds later, as I watched the words pour out onto the screen, I had it. And then, I did the secret sauce, the actions that make the article mine and not theirs.
