Larsen & Toubro (L&T) is experiencing remarkable success in the Middle East, driven by Saudi Arabia's booming construction sector.
FREMONT, CA: In recent times, Larsen & Toubro's (L&T) hydrocarbon division conducted a multi-city recruitment drive in India to fill positions for projects spanning across three Indian states, Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Tamil Nadu, along with an overseas location in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This initiative underscores the growing significance of the West Asia region for the Indian engineering and infrastructure giant, L&T.
As of June, L&T boasted an outstanding order book valued at Rs 4.12 trillion, with approximately 25 per cent of these orders totalling around Rs one trillion, originating from West Asia. This significant share primarily reflects a construction boom in Saudi Arabia, signalling the region's growing importance for the company compared to earlier periods when West Asia constituted only 11.4 per cent of L&T's order book at the beginning of FY20.
By 2023, L&T has emerged as a prominent EPC (engineering, procurement, and construction) contractor in West Asia. The company's strategic approach involved:
● Localizing its presence by establishing regional offices.
● Deploying staff familiar with the local dynamics.
● Forging strategic partnerships, which fortified L&T's position in the region.
