As the post-pandemic travel fever hits many this year, the Department of Tourism believes that Philippine tourism has fully recovered after the previous years’ low number of international travelers. With 1 million tourists already visiting this country for the first quarter of 2023, DOT has a positive outlook with reaching its target international arrivals.
With more people doing “revenge travel”, a phrase used for traveling after the pandemic when they were not allowed to travel anymore, people are looking forward to visiting more countries, including the Philippines. According to previous reports, 2021 has seen 2.5 million arrivals. Although not quite reaching pre-pandemic numbers of more than 8 million international arrivals, 2022 tourism has seen better numbers compared to the 2021. DOT, however, is much more optimistic that the Philippines can double the amount of tourists for this year.
