At the heart of its innovation are structural insulated panels, engineered and manufactured with a solid core of expanded polystyrene laminated between two sheets of oriented strand board. These high-performance panels enhance comfort and design flexibility while creating tighter structures, which improves indoor air quality and energy efficiency. Using these panels also significantly reduces build and installation time compared to traditional methods.
“These homes can be installed very quickly by a small crew,” says Gabriel Grossman, founder and CEO.
PREFLEX delivers pre-cut, pre-insulated panels ready for assembly, providing ready-made building solutions to address the most pressing challenges in modern construction. The panels integrate structural elements, insulation, sheathing and pre-cut electrical and plumbing conduits into a single package, eliminating the need for on-site carpentry and ensuring greater consistency. This method simplifies the construction process and minimizes waste.
A cleaner, more efficient build comes from using pre-assembled panels that create perfectly straight walls. This eliminates the need to locate studs for attaching drywall, siding and cabinetry. Unlike traditional stick framing, which depends heavily on manual labor and is prone to errors and inefficiencies, PREFLEX’s method streamlines the process. This is especially beneficial for projects like accessory dwelling units, as it minimizes disruption to the main residents and ensures a smoother, less intrusive construction experience.
The robust panels also offer exceptional resilience against climate change and natural disasters, including hurricanes and earthquakes, making them an ideal choice for quickly and sustainably rebuilding affected regions with homes designed to last for generations.
PREFLEX’s construction methodology is precise and efficient, capable of easily handling projects up to four stories high. The client submits construction drawings, and the team creates a detailed 3D model of the building. A professional engineer licensed in all 50 states reviews the model to ensure the design meets local legal and safety requirements.
Once the model is approved, detailed shop drawings are prepared and submitted to local authorities as part of the permitting documents. After receiving approval, the client proceeds with the groundwork to prepare the site, followed by the foundation work. PREFLEX coordinates the delivery of the prefabricated panels to coincide with the completion of the foundation.
