Roof Maxx: Turning Back the Clock on Shingles with Roof Maxx

Roof Maxx

Turning Back the Clock on Shingles with Roof Maxx

Asphalt shingles dominate the U.S. steep-slope roofing landscape, covering 80 percent of residential and multifamily properties. However, their biggest flaw is hidden in plain sight—like asphalt roads, these shingles dry out as the oil in the asphalt evaporates, making them brittle and prone to cracking. This gradual deterioration exposes roofs to leaks and damage, creating headaches for property owners. The real challenge, however, comes next—replacement. For multifamily property managers, replacing brittle shingles across multiple units is a logistical and financial nightmare. Repairs pile up, tenants are inconvenienced, and budgets take a hit. This endless cycle of drying, cracking, and replacing asphalt shingles isn’t just a maintenance issue—it’s a costly drain on resources that demands a better solution. Enter Roof Maxx, a transformative innovation redefining the roofing industry with its pioneering roof rejuvenation technology. Using a plant-based, eco-friendly formula, the company restores the flexibility and water repelling properties of existing shingles, effectively reversing the drying process without requiring replacement. By infusing shingles with a bio-based oil formulation, Roof Maxx eliminates the need for premature replacement, saving property owners the staggering costs and labor-intensive process of tearing off and installing new roofs. With Roof Maxx, multifamily property managers can extend the life of their roofs, reduce maintenance expenses, and minimize disruptions—all while making an environmentally sustainable choice. “Before roof rejuvenation, asphalt roofs faced inevitable aging with no way to extend their lifespan. We led the charge by introducing this revolutionary solution, transforming how roofs are maintained,” says Mike Feazel, Co-Founder of Roof Maxx. A Game-Changer in Roofing The story of Roof Maxx began with brothers Mike and Todd Feazel, who spent 25 years running one of the largest roofing companies in the U.S. During that time, they noticed a troubling trend—changes in oil refining processes had reduced the natural asphalt content available for shingles, compromising their durability. Faced with this growing problem, the Feazels sold their roofing company in 2013 to focus on sustainability. Their search for innovative solutions led them to Battelle Laboratories, the world’s largest private research and development organization. Through cutting-edge advancements, Roof Maxx was born. The company’s flagship product uses soy fusion technology to restore the flexibility and waterproofing properties of asphalt shingles. By soaking shingles in bio-oil derived from soybeans, Roof Maxx rejuvenates aging roofs and extends their lifespan by up to 15 years, with treatments every five years.

Roof Measurement Service Provider Of The Year

Rooforders

Elevating Accuracy in Roof and Solar Reports

Roy Clausen, CEO

Since its founding in September 2012, Rooforders has been redefining precision standards in the roofing, insurance, and solar industries. Built by a team that includes two vice presidents and top engineers from Precigeo—the company that pioneered aerial measurements in 2002—Rooforders has quickly established itself as an industry leader. “With a relentless focus on accuracy, efficiency, and customer satisfaction, we have grown rapidly, offering unparalleled capacity to meet customer needs, including the ability to deliver reports overnight,” says Roy Clausen, CEO. For businesses and individuals seeking reliable roofing reports, Rooforders is known for its ease of use and transparent pricing. The company provides premium-grade reports tailored to various building types, with residential single or multi-family reports priced at $25 and commercial reports at $50. Highvolume prepaid accounts also benefit from special discounts, making Rooforders a cost-effective choice for contractors, insurers, and solar installers requiring consistent, high-quality roof data. A Different Approach to Roof Measurement The construction and insurance industries have long relied on aerial imagery to assess roofing structures, but Rooforders recognized early on that conventional methods had limitations. Most companies use a standard approach that traces the roof from an overhead, two-dimensional view, then apply mathematical approximations to estimate pitch values. While this method can be reasonably accurate, it often overlooks the complexities of real-world roof geometry, leading to costly errors and inefficiencies. Rooforders took a different approach from the start. “Rather than relying on approximations, we developed a meticulous and precise method to determine roof slopes to the exact degree,” says David Kohls, CFO. .

Remote AE

Bringing Global Expertise to the AEC Sector

Alen Ardan, Founder & CEO

Placing talent, especially in a remote first setting for the architecture, engineering and construction (AEC) industry is no small endeavor. The task involves more than just the technical aspects — personalities, preferences and motivating factors are all key in determining if a candidate will succeed, be happy and stay long-term. At the end of February 2024, 456,000 construction positions were unfilled according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics—the highest number of unfilled positions in the last two decades. This ongoing labor shortage is making the problem worse. Remote AE, a leading provider of remote AEC staffing, is tackling these challenges head-on with its virtual assistant service. “Clients like to say that we’re by the industry, for the industry. Local solution, global talent — that’s what we provide,” says Alen Ardan, founder and CEO of Remote AE. “Our team of industry veterans has lived the day-to-day realities of AEC work and brings a nuanced understanding of the industry’s staffing challenges.” The company provides access to internationally licensed architects, engineers and construction candidates with a minimum of five years of industry experience, filling clients’ staff with expert talent. Its service is leveling the playing field by giving smaller to midscale firms access to international talent—once exclusive to larger corporations due to sourcing and screening challenges. With labor cost savings of up to 70 percent, Remote AE is a game-changer for resource-limited firms. An accreditation from the Better Business Bureau (BBB) further signifies the company’s credibility, trustworthiness and consumer confidence. A real-life incident exemplifies Remote AE’s effectiveness in solving staffing issues. Recently, two architects from a prominent New York City architectural firm managing demanding projects, reached out to Remote AE, seeking relief from time-consuming tasks to focus on their priorities. The company conducted a review of the client’s workload and needs, providing them with a virtual assistant within two weeks. The collaboration saved each architect over 12 hours per week and resulted in a 14 percent increase in project completion rate on time and within budget.

EDITORIAL

Building a Stronger Future Through Construction Staffing

The construction industry has experienced significant growth and evolution, leading to a heightened demand for skilled workers. This situation has transformed from a mere challenge into a critical issue for companies striving to meet the needs of an ever-changing market. New technologies, enhanced safety regulations, and the persistent shortage of skilled labor have made it even more important for these companies to attract and retain top talent. The construction industry faces a real shortage of skilled labor because many seasoned workers are retiring, and fewer young ones are entering this profession. For this reason, firms have started implementing new-age staffing solutions, namely agency partnerships, specialized recruitment, and on-the-job training programs, to plug the gap that onthe-ground demands need. It is estimated that the market size for construction staffing services will increase by USD 236.6 billion in the period 2023-2028 with a CAGR of 6.53 percent on account of the rising demand from labor markets, the trend toward remote working, and the mandatory compliance with labor laws and industry standards. This poses opportunities and challenges to staffing providers, who must dynamically keep track of trends and regulatory requirements. The paradigm would see a complete change upon simplifying recruitment technology and staffing solutions, introducing a wider candidate pool, and an opportunity to manage a workforce efficiently. Recruitment software and AI platforms can offer solutions for virtual job fair hiring, where employers recruit eligible candidates irrespective of geographical jurisdictions. These same technologies increase the efficiency and productivity of the workforce. Beyond technology, offering attractive remuneration and benefits combined with a great company culture plays other vital roles in winning workers’ allegiance. Today’s workforce is more concerned about job security, professional growth, and workplace safety than ever. Construction companies have prioritized those needs to show loyalty and build a well-skilled but committed workforce capable of delivering quality outputs. Innovation and tradition are crucial for the future of construction staffing. By embracing technology and prioritizing employee well-being, construction companies can tackle staffing challenges and build a more sustainable industry for future generations.
