The consultancy proposed and prepared a transportation stratagem focused on human-scaled design. The plan’s primary focus is to optimize and reduce the road network footprint while maximizing open spaces and utilizable areas.
The proposed responsible design will extend multifaceted benefits for pedestrians and overall street traffic control. Considering the emergence of autonomous vehicles, Stradaverde’s design will help minimize interaction with legacy vehicles and reduce overall congestion on the road. Automating vehicle movements within the dedicated lanes will enhance traffic flow, facilitating a better driving experience for residents.
The Royal Commission for Riyadh City also sought Stradaverde’s expertise in assessing traffic conditions and developing a traffic diversion plan. The validated diversion plans used a traffic macro simulation tool and a micro-simulation framework to assess the impact of diversion plans on the roads located within the city. These validated entry and exit strategies will assure seamless connectivity through the access roads.
The infrastructure projects are also designed to accommodate climate change. Stradaverde incorporates design features that focus on the optimal utilization of rainfall, converting much of the collected water into potable water for further use. In flood-related challenges, excess water will be treated and reused for landscaping, irrigation, fountains, green spaces, and recreational opportunities. By recycling as much water as possible for domestic purposes, Stradaverde will help maintain energy consumption and significantly cut costs.
Stradaverde played a crucial role in greenlighting the Sports Boulevard, a 135-kilometer cycling and sports corridor across the city of Riyadh. It features green pedestrian paths, dedicated routes for cyclists and horses, and a venue for sports and artistic activities. The consultancy facilitated temporary traffic management during the project’s construction.
